The very tall and presumably sturdy portal of the "Konstantinsbasilika" in Trier. Its position and proportion in this specific shot strongly remind me of the great deviation "Dedalium" [link] by pbxn109.

General Information: The "Konstantinsbasilika" ("Basilica of Constantine") is a Roman palace basilica from the 4th century AD. A good aerial photograph can be seen on Bing Maps: [link] . It was built by the Emperor Constantine, the first Christian Roman Emperor, and served him as throne room. It's current appearance does not reflect the glory it had in ancient times, because the inner decorations weren't renewed after falling victim to an allied air raid in 1944. Today it is used as a protestant church.

Trier is a city in the Federal Republic of Germany with a population of 100,000. It is located in the Western part of Germany only 15 km from the border of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and lies on the banks of the Moselle River. It claims to be the oldest recognized city in Germany, being founded by the Romans 2000 years ago. Besides its numerous buildings from the Roman and the frequency of archaeological discoveries, it is very famous as a wine-growing region.
